AP5 - Anti Microbial Preservative

For Anti-Microbial Preservation and Control of Sap-stain and Mould on Timber.

Description
AP5 is a safe and effective water soluble product for preserving newly felled timber which still contains sap, and other timber which contains high levels of internal moisture.

AP5 is particularly suitable for use on newly sawn timber and newly peeled logs as it uses the natural internal moisture in the timber to penetrate deeply. When used directly after peeling, it will prevent the development of sap-stain.

AP5 has Copper 8 Quinolinolate as its active ingredient. Copper 8 has been proven as a low toxicity, highly effective timber preservative. AP5 is registered pursuant to the NZ Preservatives Act 1979 No 3974.

AP5 has the following benefits

  • controls moulds, fungi and bacteria in timber
  • is safe to use - low toxicity
  • fixes into timber within 5 minutes of application
  • is stable to ultraviolet light
  • has excellent leach resistance
  • can be painted or coated over

Typical Uses
AP5 is used to control decay, rot, mould, mildew, and termites.
It has particular use in preventing sap stain in logs if applied immediately after peeling.

Due to its low toxicity, AP5 can be used on timber in contact with fruit, vegetables and foodstuffs. e.g. boxes, bins, trays, stakes, pallets, fences, shingles, weatherboards, furniture, millwork, beehives etc.

AP5 is also used to control mould and mildew on paint, varnish, concrete, brick, tile, fibrolite, wood, paper, leather, textiles, rope, nets, canvas, gib board, plaster etc.

Directions for use
AP5 can be applied by brush, spray, roller, or by dipping. The AP5 concentrate is added to water according to the method of application  and all surfaces are covered with the AP5 solution. AP5 can be used in paint and on logs and shingles.
